Longer runs come from three habits: one compact entrance instead of a thin perimeter, coins left for an emergency repair, and a between-wave look at the lane that was actually hit. The official rule is that Verities get harder the longer you last, so build for the wave after next.
Between waves
- Walk the perimeter. Check damaged walls, turret angles, and gaps.
- Learn the lane. The first two waves often show which approach takes the damage. Reinforce that side instead of spreading walls evenly.
- Repair every damaged section and confirm every turret can see.
- Confirm the reserve covers at least one emergency repair.
- Name the next likely breach and reinforce it before you start.
- On a team, agree builder, gunner, and scout before the wave. Short callouts name the lane, the repair, and the urgency.
If a breach opens during the wave, repair it before you buy more damage. A hole ends the run faster than a missing upgrade. You cannot build during the raid, so upgrades wait for the break.
Spend by stage
| Phase | Do this | Do not do this |
|---|---|---|
| Early | Close entrances, one turret on the approach, reserve intact | Several weak positions and an empty wallet |
| Middle | Upgrade the section that is failing | New turrets while old ones are blocked |
| Late | Durability and overlap on proven spots | Cosmetics and spending the reserve |
| After a wipe | Change one thing: reserve, the hit lane, or one blocked arc | Copy a creator's wave 90 base |
Why a working defense stops
- A front-only line gets flanked. One run was hit from the side after the player had clustered shotgun turrets at the door, and it ended at wave 18 when explosives broke in.
- Diggers bypass the gun line and enter the underground room.
- One unnoticed gap becomes the lane for the rest of the night.
- A boss breaks a door while attacks also come from behind. Upgrades were unavailable during that assault.
- Turrets placed so close together that one giant blocks several firing fields.
- Walls never upgraded after the early waves.
- Chasing enemies away from the bunker.
Fast early guns lose value once enemies get durable. Narrow specialty placements only pay off on the exact lane they were bought for. Redistribute if two turrets watch one lane and another approach is empty.
Pick one change for the next run and compare your own wave count. Session luck and how much you have already bought move that number.
